For Professionals

Al-Anon Family Groups, which include Alateen, has been in existence for over 60 years as a community resource providing support to those affected by someone else’s drinking. Today, there are over 26,000 Al-Anon and Alateen groups meeting in 130 countries; with over 14,000 Al-Anon Family Groups meeting every week throughout the U.S. and Canada. Our meetings are anonymous and confidential. There are no dues or fees for membership.

In a 2015 Membership Survey, it was shown that 46% of respondents were referred to Al-Anon by a professional.  Of them, 64% attended Al-Anon because of the professional recommendation. The survey also showed that 40% of newcomers who first came to Al-Anon because of a loved one’s drug addiction, later came to better understand the seriousness of that person’s alcohol problem only after attending Al-Anon for a period of time.

Al-Anon and Alateen meetings are compatible with all types of counseling and medical treatment.
